New Delhi: The year 2022 has been a year of redemption for senior all-rounder Hardik Pandya. He has been in great form ever since his comeback from injury after a disappointing outing in last year's T20 World Cup. In Indian Premier League 2022, franchise Gujarat Titans, under Hardik's captaincy, won the title in their debut season. After IPL, the all-rounder is also consolidating his place in the national squad by performing superbly at the international level.
Hardik impressed everyone with his all-around performance on the ongoing tour against England. He took 4 wickets in the first T20 against England and also scored a half-century.
Pandya was also named in India's ODI squad for the three-match series against England. He was returning to this format after almost a year but his performances never made it look like he was returning to the 50-over format after a long time.
In the third match of the ongoing ODI series against England, Hardik Pandya played an important role in restricting England to a low score. He took 4 wickets after giving away just 24 runs in 7 overs.
Interestingly, he bowled three over maidens in this match. Hardik, in the 3rd ODI, registered the best bowling performance of his ODI career. Prior to this, his best ODI bowling performance came in the debut match against New Zealand in 2016, where he took 3 wickets for 31 runs.
Hardik was introduced into the bowling attack in the 10th over and he took his first wicket by dismissing opener Jason Roy on the fifth ball of his first over. No run was scored in this over. He conceded 2 runs in his second over. While on the second ball of the third over, he dismissed Ben Stokes. This over was also a maiden. After this, in the 37th over of the innings, Hardik delivered a double blow to England in the same over by dismissing Livingstone and Jos Buttler.
