Gujarat Lions players evacuated from team hotel due to earthquake
New Delhi: The Gujarat Lions players were resting at their hotel in Mohali when they were asked to evacuate the building due to an earthquake that hit the Hindukush region in Afghanistan this afternoon and it shook the entire northern India.
The players were quick to move out of the hotel and later tweeted their feelings. South African fast bowler Dale Steyn and Australian opener Aaron Finch were the first ones.
Steyn said, “Just felt the tremors of an earthquake in Mohali. Evacuated out the hotel, boys are a little “shaken.”

It said, “Earthquake tremors felt in parts of North India including Mohali. Our players have been evacuated from their hotel. No casualties!”
The Gujarat Lions are set to meet Kings XI Punjab at Mohali on Monday and had reached the venue quite early to prepare for their IPL debut match. A powerful earthquake clocking 6.6 on the Richter scale, epicentred in Hindukush mountain range in Afghanistan, jolted several parts of north India forcing people out of their homes and creating panic. However, there were no reports of loss of lives or property. According to J L Gautam, Operations Head of National Centre for Seismology, "The earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale at a depth of 190 km hit Hindukush mountain region at 3:58 PM." Tremors were felt in Pakistan and large parts of north India, including Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, besides Delhi National Capital Region.Earthquake tremors felt in parts of North India including Mohali.
