French Open Final: Novak Djokovic Crowned Roland Garros 2021 Champion, 19th Grand Slam Title For The Serb
This title is being termed as Novak Djokovic's best Grand Slam win ever! Stefanos Tsitsipas lost the final even after being 2-sets up!
Paris: After a tiring and, in many ways, historic French Open Final, Novak Djokovic has come out victorious. Djokovic won his 19th Grand Slam title and only his second Roland Garros title.
Novak Djokovic defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece 6-7(6-8), 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4. After losing the first two sets, Djokovic came back strong to win three straight sets. With this win, Novak Djokovic has closed down the gap between the number of grand slams between him and Federer and Nadal - who are both at 20 grand slams each.
The greek player who is currently the fifth seed could not prevail even after winning two sets in a row. It was Novak Djokovic's resilience and his ability to come back from a point where he could have easily lost the match.
Many tennis experts are saying that this is perhaps Djokovic's best Grand Slam title as he had previously won just one Roland Garros. He defeated Rafael Nadal who is considered the 'King of Clay' by tennis lovers around the world.
Novak Djokovic said that he has had a "Love-Hate Relationship" with this grand-slam competition.
