“The decision I made is the right one, it has given a peaceful mind to the club, the players, even the press but also for me and for the environment… but I’m not changing my mind”. pic.twitter.com/IIGE1S4tle
“My decision to leave the club at the end of the season will NOT change. The decision I made is the right one, it has given a peaceful mind to the club, the players, even the press but also for me and for the environment… but I’m not changing my mind,” said Xavi during the press conference.
The decision first came in January, when FC Barcelona lost 5-3 to Villarrreal in La Liga and ever since that day, FC Barcelona has been on a whole different level, as the Blaugrana are on an unbeaten run of 12 matches, with the latest coming against the odds, a 3-2 win away at Paris St Germain in the UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Quarter Final First Leg.
Xavi's Comments In The Post-Match Press Conference Of UEFA Champions League
Xavi Hernandez did the extremely unthinkable, as FC Barcelona ousted tie-favourites PSG in the first leg of UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Quarter Final First Leg. In the process, they also managed to keep Kylian Mbappe quiet, as the legendary forward didn't manage even a single shot on target.
However, inspite of an impressive away win, and the second leg to be played at home (which is highly advantageous for FC Barcelona), Xavi still weighs in favour of PSG to win the tie.
"I believe that PSG remain to be the favorites. We’ve just tightened the gap because defensively we’ve been solid. I’m very proud because it was a great victory against one of the best teams in the world. We are halfway there," said Xavi, FC Barcelona manager.
FC Barcelona winger Raphinha, who has received much criticism for ghosting in important matches, shushed his haters with an iconic performance against the Parisiens, which involved a brace and the head coach was full of priase for the Brazilian.
"Raphinha is exciting, he’s really fantastic… if you see how he’s pressing, always trying the best. I love his personality, and he gives us a lot: his attitude is perfect, the way he presses,” he added.
