Sunil Chhetri On Mother's Love And Beatings Of Childhood
"My worst-ever beating came via a pipe, the belt was the second worst. But pipe... I don't know if you have ever been smashed by a pipe, but once being swung towards you and getting hit, it does leave a noticeable mark on your body. The best thing about pipe is, if it’s still the case of you being beaten by a belt or pipe, that both pipe and belt do not have a stronger impact upon closer distance, so just hug your parents or stay closer to their body, which will restrict the impact of the contact," said Sunil Chhetri.
"Don’t provide that gap, else that arm swing will lead you to get hurt, just stay near the body of your mom. When it comes to hanger or any other stuff, stay a bit far, so that you catch it. If your mom catches a hold of you and slaps, ‘Kha lo, maa ka pyaar hai’ (just happily take the slap, it’s your mom’s love). The slaps of mom and the frequency of it are just like a ‘prasad’. I have been a very difficult child, I was on the verge of amalgamation of mischievous, bad, and naughty. I was almost out of hands….,” he added.
