'Would Like To Thank The Management': Mike Hesson Comes Up With A Heartfelt Message After Parting Ways With RCB

RCB was one of the most consistent sides under the supervision of Mike Hesson as they reached the playoffs thrice in as many years

Mike Hesson was disappointed after his stint got over as the Director of Cricket of Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday. After RCB ended at 6th place in the last IPL, Hesson’s tenure as the chief of the coaching staff concluded. Sanjay Bangar who was the head coach of RCB, was also released from the franchise as RCB appointed Andy Flower as their head coach for the upcoming season.

RCB was one of the most consistent sides under the supervision of Mike Hesson as they reached the playoffs thrice in as many years. Mike took the onus as  Director of Cricket in 2019 and also witnessed Virat Kohli resigning from the captaincy of the franchise. Even after qualifying for the playoffs thrice, the Bangalore-based franchise failed to clinch the trophy.

"Although we were able to make good progress making 3 playoffs in the last 4 seasons we were not able to win the elusive trophy that I like so many players, support staff, and the amazing fans so dearly wanted," Mike Hesson wrote in his post.

"Although disappointed to be leaving RCB I have some very fond memories working with great people both on and off the park. I would like to thank the management for the opportunity and wish RCB and it's new coaching team the very best," he added.

"Lastly to the amazing RCB fans, you are unwavering in your support and passion for the team and made me feel at home. For that I thank you," he added.

Before signing up for the Bangalore-based team, Hesso had a great coaching career with many teams and countries. He started his coaching journey at the age of 22 with Otago Cricket, giving his service for close to 15 years. On the back of a great coaching stint with Otago, he went on to coach Kenya after their poor run in the 2011 World Cup.

Notably, Hesson’s most crucial achievement transpired when he serves as the head coach of the New Zealand Men's Cricket Team for six years. Under his coaching, the Blackcaps won back-to-back 13 matches across all formats.
