World Cup 2019: Virat Kohli's school sends soil to London as blessings

India skipper Virat Kohli is getting all the love and support to become the third Indian captain to win the World Cup after Kapil Dev in 1983 and M.S. Dhoni in 2011.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s school in the capital came up with a heart-warming gesture to express their support for their alumni in a very unique manner. Vishal Bharti Public School in Uttam Nagar, where the Indian captain spent a part of his childhood sent soil from its premises to London. Virat, who entered the ICC World Cup as a skipper for the first time is getting all the love and support to become the third Indian captain to win the World Cup after Kapil Dev in 1983 and M.S. Dhoni in 2011. Host broadcasters Star Sports tweeted on Friday, "The soil from @imVkohli's school, where he learnt to play cricket, is going to London to bless him (sic.)," Star Sports said in the tweet. Apart from Kohli, India former skipper MS Dhoni's school DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir school, Ranchi too took the initiative to send premises soil in form of blessings to the veteran, who might be playing his final World Cup, this year. Kohli started his schooling at Vishal Bharti before moving to Saviour Convent in his ninth grade. In 1998, he joined the West Delhi Cricket Academy as part of its first intake while studying at Vishal Bharti. He has come a long way since then, breaking into the Indian team in 2008 and going on to be recognised by commentators and former players as the best batsman in the world across formats at present. Kohli-led India started their tournament on June 5 with a convincing six-wicket win against South Africa. Thanks to the all-round batting performance by the batting lineup at Oval on Sunday, India posted a convincing 352/6 against defending champions Australia, who are unbeaten in the two matches they have played.
