Right-hand batsman Mayank Agarwal will be joining the Indian team in Leeds on Wednesday, ahead of their next World Cup fixture against Sri Lanka. The uncapped batter has been named as the replacement of all-rounder Vijay Shankar who ruled out of the tournament following a toe injury. The BCCI confirmed the development on Tuesday through a statement after the ICC approved Mayank’s induction. Shankar was on Monday ruled out of the World Cup as he sustained a toe injury in the nets while batting against Jasprit Bumrah.
