World Cup 2019: Here's how Pakistan can enter semis after England made the cut

Now if Pakistan need to experience the knock-outs, then here are the calculations

England made into the ICC Cricket World Cup semi-finals after a long gap of 27 years. On Wednesday, Eoin Morgan & Co. hammered New Zealand by 119 runs in Chester-le Street to fuel their dream of winning a maiden title. Jonny Bairstow’s 2nd century on the trot took the hosts to 305 for eight on a pitch that got slower as the game progressed. Later, brilliance from England and some ordinary cricket from the Black Caps led to their downfall as they folded up for 186 in 45 overs. England’s entering into the semi-finals has dashed all the hopes of Pakistan and they are almost out of the race. Pakistan currently hold the 5th position with 9 points from 8 matches. They have a negative net run rate of -0.792 while New Zealand, who are sitting 4th with 11 points, have a positive net run rate of +0.175 even after losing to England. Now if Pakistan need to experience the knock-outs, then here are the calculations: 1. If Pakistan score 350, they must win by 311 runs 2. If Pakistan score 400, they must win by 316 runs 3. If Pakistan score 450, they must win by 321 runs NOTE: If Bangladesh win the toss and choose to bat, Pakistan are out before a ball has been bowled The above permutations suggest a tough job for Sarfraz and his men ahead when they lock horns with Bangladesh at Lord's on Friday.
