Why Was Rinku Singh's Last-Ball Six In IND vs AUS 1st T20I Not Counted?

IND vs AUS 1st T20I: Rinku Singh smashed a six off Sean Abbott to finish things off for India but it wasn't counted in the scoreboard.

With India needing 1 to win off 1 ball in the first T20I of the five-match series against Australia at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Friday (November 24), Rinku Singh smashed a six off Sean Abbott to finish things off for India. However, moments into India's celebrations a hooter was heard at the stadium which meant it was a no-ball.

While that had not much of an impact on the result of the match, except for the fact that India won the match with a ball to spare, Rinku's final-ball six did not count against his name. This is because when the bowler overstepped and was a no-ball, India's reached their target and after that the six would not count, leaving Rinku unbeaten on 22 off 14.

Talking about the match, India elected to bowl first but riding on a terrific hundred from Josh Inglis, Australia scored 208/3. In response, India lost both their openers inside the powerplay but half-centuries from Suryakumar Yadav (80 off 42) and Ishan Kishan (58 off 39) coupled with the finishing touches from Rinku helped India pull off their most successful chase in T20Is. The only other time India chased down more than 200 against Australia in Rajkot in 2012.

Including this match, there have been six matches of the side batting first and posting 190 or more in T20Is including these two sides but all of them came in a losing cause. With this India, also became the team with the most number of 200 plus successful run-chases in T20Is with this being their fifth such match. South Africa have won four matches chasing 200 or more while Pakistan and Australia have won three matches chasing 200 or more.
