WATCH: Rahul Dravid, Hardik Pandya Ask Yuzvendra Chahal To Return After Walking In At No. 10; Disallowed Due To Rules
IND vs WI 1st T20I: The Indian management wanted Mukesh Kumar, on debut, to bat ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal. However, it was too late as Chahal had already made his way to the pitch.
India and West Indies squared off in the first of the five-match T20I series at the Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba in Trinidad on Thursday (August 3). In what was a thrilling game, the home team registered a four-run win. During a tensed moment in India's run-chase of 150 though, there was a comedy of errors of sorts from the Indian team which involved debutant Mukesh Kumar and Yuzvendra Chahal. It so happened that Kuldeep Yadav was clean bowled by Romario Shepherd on the first ball of the 20th over making the equation for India- 10 to win off 5 deliveries.
However, at this moment in the game, it was Yuzvendra Chahal who came out to bat. When Chahal had already made it to the pitch though, he was called back as it looked like the team management wanted Mukesh to go instead. But as per the rules, it was too late for Chahal to return as he had stepped on to the field of play and was deemed as the next batter of the team. Later, India ended up on the losing side.
The video of the incident involving Chahal and Mukesh has gone viral.

As far as the match is concerned, West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first. They posted 149/6, thanks majorly to the efforts from captain Rovman Powell who top-scored with 48 off 32 and wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran who scored 41 from 34 balls. In response, debutant Tilak Varma did chip in with 39 off 22 for Team India but his efforts were not enough to take India over the line. Jason Holder (2/19) was the pick of the bowlers for West Indies and was adjudged the Player of the Match.
India and West Indies are scheduled to play the second T20I on Sunday (August 6) at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.
