WAF vs SFU MCL 2024 Qualifier: Washington Freedom (WAF) brushed aside San Francisco Unicorns (SFU) by six wickets in the Qualifier of the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) season 2024 at the Grand Prairie Stadium on July 26 (Friday). With the win, Washington are set to make their maiden Major League Cricket final appearance and are primed to win it as well. Led by Steve Smith, Washington have been beaten just once in the entire tournament.
San Francisco will have one more opportunity as they will face Texas Super kIngs (TSK) in the Challenger match, and whoever wins that match will face WAF in the finals.

Fifties From Travis Head & Glenn Maxwell Take Washington To Maiden MLC Final
Coming to the match, Washington Freedom were given the target of 146 runs in 20 overs. They faced a rocky start as captain Steve Smith threw his wicket away early into the innings trying to play an uncharacteristic shot. However, opener Travis Head, was once again in a destructive mood as he brought up his fifth consecutive fifty in the tournament. He was supported by compatriot Glenn Maxwell who also brought up a fifty in just 22 balls and steered Washington Freedom to a comfortable six-wicket victory with four overs to spare.

Rachin Ravindra's 4-Fer Deals San Francisco Heavy Blow
Earlier in the match, San Francisco were put in to bat first after Steve Smith won the toss. Finn Allen and Jake Fraser-McGurk started shakily and lost their wickets not long after. SFU were in grave trouble as they found themselves 67-5 after 11 overs. However, Core Anderson and Hassan Khan stitched a good partnership to take their team out of trouble. Eventually, SFU finished with 145-10 in 19.1 overs.
Rachin Ravindra was the standout pick of the bowlers for Washington as he scalped four wickets in just 2.4 overs giving away only 11 runs.
