Social Media Reacts To Virat Kohli's 48-Ball 50 In India vs South Africa T20 World Cup 2024 Final

Virat Kohli scored his first fifty of the T20 World Cup 2024 in 48 balls during the India vs South Africa final on June 28. Cricket fans and social media users were quick to give their reactions.

India are up against South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 Final at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on June 29 (Saturday). India faced challenges early in the innings as they lost three early wickets in their batting innings. Virat Kohli played a surprisingly slow innings on a pitch that favoured batters. Social media was quick to respond to it and reactions flew in from all corners about Kohli’s innings of 76 runs off 59 balls.

India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first in the crucial match. The Men in Blue had a strong start, with Virat Kohli hitting Marco Jansen for three boundaries in the opening over. Captain Rohit Sharma also began well, striking a couple of boundaries off Keshav Maharaj before being dismissed while attempting a sweep. The left-arm spinner then removed Rishabh Pant in the same over, leaving India at 23/2. The in-form Suryakumar Yadav also fell, getting caught at fine leg off Kagiso Rabada's bowling.

Social Media Reacts To Virat Kohli's Innings

Virat Kohli, despite being at 22 runs off 16 balls after 5 overs took 32 balls to score his next 28 runs. He achieved his first fifty of the T20 World Cup 2024 in 48 balls. It also came as his first 50-plus score for him in his last 10 innings. Social media users took to their handles and gave critical assessment to Kohli's innings, with some even calling the innings selfish. A user wrote, "Most selfish player. Who takes 48 balls to score a 50? And that too in a World Cup final. (48 ball me kaun 50 maarta hai? Wo bhi worldcup final me)"

India Make Comeback To Post 176 In T20 World Cup Final

Marco Jansen finally got Virat Kohli’s wicket on the fifth ball of 19th over as the Indian batter was caught by Kagiso Rabada in the long-on region.

India after being reduced to 34-3 in the powerplay made a strong comeback as they posted 176-7 in 20 overs.
