New Zealand’s spinner Todd Astle could miss out on long awaited ODI debut after sustaining groin strain during the warm up game against Board President’s XI in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The legspinner left the field after bowling just three deliveries in his very first over. Black Caps skipper Kane Williamson had to complete the remaining 3 deliveries.
However, the intensity of the injury is not known yet and the backroom staff will further assess the severity before taking a call on his participation in the series.
Astle was selected in the 15-member squad ahead of Ish Sodhi, owing to his fine performance in the ODI series against India A. He scalped 6 wickets with an average of 27.83
The 31-year-old has represented the Balck Caps in 2 Tests and as many T20’s but he is yet to get a cap in the 50-over format.
