T20 World Cup 2022: Former Australian All-rounder Reckons Virat Kohli 'Is A Freak'

The former India skipper also surpassed Mahela Jayawardene’s total of 1,016 runs to become the highest scorer in T20 World Cup history.

Virat Kohli has been in prolific form in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Just when team India needed the most, Kohli delivered. He has registered three half-centuries in four matches. In the match against Bangladesh, Kohli scored 64 runs in just 44 balls on Wednesday. 

The former India skipper also surpassed Mahela Jayawardene’s total of 1,016 runs to become the highest scorer in T20 World Cup history. Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson was awestruck with Kohli’s performance.

"Over 1000 runs in T20 World Cups at an average of over 80, I am not able to get my head around this. T20 cricket is a high-risk game, high-risk batting and to think that he can do it at the biggest tournament, averaging so much and winning so many games for his country. He is a freak and those statistics are super freakish. It's incredible that you can bat in such a high-risk format and score consistently. It's ridiculous," Watson said on Star Sports.

Talking about the India- Bangladesh match, India batted first and scored 184/6 in 20 overs. In reply to that, Liton Das starred with the bat for Bangladesh as he made 60 runs in just 27 balls. Rain played spoilsport and then the officials decided to reduce the overs and it turned out to be a 16-over game. The Bangla tigers have then given the target of 151 runs.
