The hosts are producing a solid batting display in the 2nd Test match, as they ended Day 1 on a strong note. A brilliant half-century from Kamindu Mendis helped the all-rounder register a world record, but that was not the only highlight of the evening, as veteran Dinesh Chandimal ended his two-year drought for a ton against full-time Test playing nation.

Alongside Kamindu Mendis, Angelo Mathews is too, batting beautifully, as the 37-year-old sits unbeaten at 78 and will be aiming to get to triple figures. The veteran all-rounder too, has not hit a Test century against full-time Test playing nation since March 2023.
