Sourav Ganguly Shares Cryptic Post, Talks About Coach's Role In Life Of Athletes

Gautam Gambhir, under whose mentorship Kolkata Knight Riders won an IPL title after 10 years, is being discussed as a potential coach for the Indian cricket team.

Rahul Dravid's tenure as India head coach is set to end after ICC T20 World Cup 2024 tournament, and reportedly he does not wish to extend it further.

IPL 2024 winning mentor Gautam Gambhir's name has come up in discussions for the top coaching role and it is being widely reported that the former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain is the top contender to be finalised for the role.

Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly took to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday (May 30), talking about importance of a coach’s role in the life of athletes. Although, Ganguly did not directly state whether he was referring to the Indian cricket team's head coach role.

Gautam Gambhir's candidacy for India's new head coach appears strong. He hasn't made any statements regarding this possibility. It appears the BCCI has limited options, as several potential candidates have declined the high-profile role. 

Gambhir's strong bond with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) owner Shahrukh Khan could complicate his departure from the IPL team. Additionally, the opinions of senior Indian players currently in New York about appointing Gambhir as head coach are also a crucial factor to consider.
