Shoaib Akhtar Questions Absence Of PCB Officials At Champions Trophy Final Trophy Presentation: WATCH

Shoaib Akhtar expressed shock and disappointment over the absence of any PCB official during the Champions Trophy 2025 presentation ceremony despite Pakistan being the tournament hosts.

Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar expressed surprise and disappointment over the absence of any Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) representative during the trophy presentation ceremony following India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final win at the Dubai International Stadium on March 9 (Sunday). India clinched a record third Champions Trophy title with a four-wicket win over New Zealand, as ICC chairman Jay Shah, BCCI president Roger Binny and secretary Devajit Saikia handed out the medals. Despite being the official hosts of the tournament, Pakistan had no representative present on the podium in Dubai.

In a video uploaded on his official X (formerly Twitter), Akhtar expressed disappointment over the absence of any Pakistan Cricket Board representative during the Champions Trophy 2025 presentation ceremony, despite Pakistan being the official host of the tournament.

'Tournament Was Hosted By Us, But There Was Nobody There'

Akhtar wrote in the captain to the video, “This is literally beyond my understanding. How can this be done???”

"India has won the ICC Champions Trophy. There was one odd thing: no one from the Pakistan Cricket Board during the presentation ceremony. Pakistan is the host of the Champions Trophy, but there was no representative of Pakistan who was standing. No one was there to present the trophy. It is beyond me. Think about it. The tournament was hosted by us, but there was nobody there. Feeling very down to see that," Akhtar said in the video.

Watch Shoaib Akhtar expressing dissapointment over the absence of any PCB official at the Champions Trophy 2025 final ceremony:

For the unversed, while Pakistan were the hosts to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, India played all their matches in Dubai after they denied travelling to the host nation due to the long-standing political tensions. The tournament was hosted in hybrid format with India playing their matches at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, while other teams playing in Pakistan.
