Rohit Sharma Speaks About Edgbaston Loss And Pace Sensation Umran Ahead Of First T20I Against England

Indian Cricket Team Captain Rohit Sharma, has said that only “time will tell” about the impact of the loss in the Edgbaston Test at the hands of England. Rohit, who contracted COVID-19, and missed the fifth and last Test match has now recovered and is all set for the first T20I against England to be held at The Rose Bowl in Southampton on Thursday, July 7 at 10:30 PM IST.
"It's obviously disappointing to not come out as victors. The Test series was for India to win. That said, time will tell whether that loss will have any impact in the T20I and ODI series against England," said Rohit Sharma, as reported by News agency PTI.
“That was a different format and this will be a different one,” Rohit added expressing confidence in his team
Rohit also talked about the 22-year old pace sensation Umran Malik who hit 157 kph - one of the fastest deliveries by an Indian bowler - in the recently concluded season of the Indian Premier League. Rohit said that Umran is very much “in their plans” as the Kashmir-born sensation looks to better his breakthrough year, after making his T20I debut against Ireland last month.
"Umran is very much in our plans. Right now, we are trying to give him an understanding on what his role would be and what the team requires from him. We have to see where we can bowl him," said the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, reported PTI.
"Umran is definitely one of those players... and keeping the World Cup in our sights, we want to see what he has to offer to us. So, it's all about giving him that ideal role of a pacer, depending upon the situations," he further said
Rohit also stated that Team India have their “eyes on the T20 World Cup” later this year for which the three-match T20 series against England will be a perfect opportunity for his side to determine where they stand.
"With one eye on the World Cup later this year, this is an important series for us. That said, every game for India is important right now and we want to get our job done in this series as well," said Rohit, as reported by PTI.
"The hunger is definitely there whenever we are representing India. So, it's not going to be any different this time too," he added.
