Rishabh Pant Health Update: Cricketer Shifted From ICU To Private Room; BCCI To Decide Whether To Move Him Overseas

Rishabh Pant Health Update: The cricketer continues to experience swelling and pain in parts of his body.

Injured in a road accident in Uttarakhand, cricketer Rishabh Pant's health is gradually improving. On Sunday evening, the left-handed batter was shifted from the hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to a private ward at Max, Dehradun. However, the cricketer continues to experience swelling and pain in parts of his body. Hence, an MRI of his knee couldn't happen even on the third day after the incident.

The 25-year-old is receiving pain management therapy. A call on the further course of treatment of his ligament tear will be taken in consultation with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). It is being learnt Pant could even be sent overseas.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid a visit to the injured cricketer at the Max Hospital on Sunday. On this visit, CM Dhami thanked Haryana Roadways Bus Driver Sushil Kumar and Paramjeet who rescued Pant after the accident. The Chief Minister also announced that the duo will be honoured under the Good Samaritan award of the Central government.

Pant met with accident on December 30

Notably, Pant was driving from Delhi to Roorkee to surprise his mother for New Year when he met with an accident on December 30. Initial reports had suggested that the stumper had dozed off but fresh claims hint that he was trying to avoid a pothole when he lost control of his vehicle.

CM Dhami, while interacting with the press after meeting Pant, said that Pant told him how he was trying to dodge a pothole.

"Pant has said that he encountered a pothole or some black thing in front after which he didn’t realise where the car went ahead,” Dhami told reporters.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has reportedly taken prompt action and even repaired all such holes near the accident site.
