MS Dhoni vs R Ashwin: 2 Fewer Innings But Same Number Of Test Tons For The Off-Spinning All-Rounder

MS Dhoni vs R Ashwin: In a piece of stat that may surprise many, the off-spinning all-rounder has the same number of Test tons as the wicketkeeper-batter.

Ravichandran Ashwin is in the news lately for a splendid batting performance in the 1st innings of the India vs Bangladesh Test at his home ground- the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. In what could potentially be his final Test match at home, Ashwin notched up his sixth Test match century. However, one interesting way of looking at that stat is that he equalled the number of Test tons that former India captain MS Dhoni managed.

In a piece of stat that may surprise many, Dhoni also had as many Test hundreds as Ashwin and even played two more innings than the off-spinning all-rounder. Notably, while Dhoni has played 90 Test matches for India, he has 144 innings in which he has 6 tons. No Test Hundreds For Dhoni Outside Asia

Another interesting stat where Ashwin beats Dhoni in terms of his batting bragging rights is the fact that Dhoni did not manage a single Test ton outside the Asian continent. However, this is not the case with Ashwin whose two hundreds came in West Indies during India's 2016 tour.
