Ravichandran Ashwin is in the news lately for a splendid batting performance in the 1st innings of the India vs Bangladesh Test at his home ground- the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. However, one interesting way of looking at that stat is that he equalled the number of Test tons that former India captain MS Dhoni managed.
In a piece of stat that may surprise many, Dhoni also had as many Test hundreds as Ashwin and even played two more innings than the off-spinning all-rounder. Notably, while Dhoni has played 90 Test matches for India, he has 144 innings in which he has 6 tons. As far as Ashwin is concernd, he may have played more Tests than Dhoni already but in terms of innings, he has come out to bat 142 times in which he has 6 tons.

Having said that, when it comes to half-centuries, Dhoni is way ahead of Ashwin. The wicketkeeper-batter managed 33 half-centuries in his career while Ashwin so far has 14 fifties. Moreover, Dhoni has a double hundred as well to his name while Ashwin's highest individual score has been 124.
No Test Hundreds For Dhoni Outside Asia
Another interesting stat where Ashwin beats Dhoni in terms of his batting bragging rights is the fact that Dhoni did not manage a single Test ton outside the Asian continent. However, this is not the case with Ashwin whose two hundreds came in West Indies during India's 2016 tour.
