PSL 2019: Lahore Qalandars lodge complaint against Wasim Akram, Imad Wasim, Amir

The Qalandars took the action following an off filed spat, citing “clear violation of the code of conduct”

Sparking a fresh controversy in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL), franchise Lahore Qalandars have lodged an official complaint against former pacer and Karachi Kings president Wasim Akram and two of its players—Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir.

According to media reports, the Qalandars took the action following an off filed spat, citing “clear violation of the code of conduct”. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to respond on the matter.

What was the incident?

As learned from the reports, Wasim was spotted having a heated conversation with the family members of Lahore franchise owner Fawad Rana after Karachi's 22-run loss. Losing skipper Imad Wasim, along with teammate Amir, were also part of the scenario, which allegedly included inappropriate gestures.

Later, Wasim moved to the post-match presentation while the other two were dragged by the Karachi manager into the dressing room. Apart from the above three, a PCB official is also believed to have been involved in the incident. Two other dignitaries from Lahore's hospitality box were also taken into custody but were released shortly after.

Lahore Qalandars retaliate

The Lahore franchise has sent a written complaint letter to match referee Roshan Mahanama but he kept himself away from the issue. Lahore also want the national cricket board to go through the CCTV footage and take appropriate action before their next game against Karachi on  February 28.

The PSL's technical committee is now looking into it.
