Pakistan's Salman Butt Lauds India's Domestic Structure, Also Praises Rahul Dravid

"Dravid obviously has organizational skills. Add to it, his technical expertise. Dravid has proved himself in the toughest conditions," Butt said on his YouTube channel.

Karachi: Former Pakistan batsman, Salman Butt has opened up about his thoughts on Indian cricket. He feels the reason for India's tremendous success in their batting is based on their well organized domestic structure. He was all praises about the amount of domestic cricket that is played in India.

Butt also stressed that U-16 matches in India take place in the longest format of the sport which helps the cricketers become better batsmen.

“India have Under-23, Under-19, Vijay Hazare Trophy, Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 and then they have Under-16. Now what they are doing well, there’s no one-day or T20 for Under-16. They are making them play the longest format in which the basic skills are being developed. And when you see the numbers in just these four categories, there are 1218 games and if you include women’s games, the figure goes over 2000,” Butt said in a video on his YouTube channel.

Salman Butt went on to talk about Rahul Dravid and how good he is as organizing a team.

“Organizational skills of the (Indian) players can be judged from the fact that, even with five-six big names, a team managed to work towards a goal in a united manner. Dhoni captained Dravid, Ganguly, Tendulkar and Laxman. It is not an easy job. I had seen during my playing days, the captain respected the seniors, who reciprocated by backing their leader. So Dravid obviously has organizational skills. Add to it, his technical expertise. Dravid has proved himself in the toughest conditions. So he knows what to teach the youngsters since he has gained that experience,” he said.
