Pakistan opts for shocking review
New Delhi: The advent of Decision Review System (DRS) can minimize the umpiring flaws to a certain extent, provided it is used at the right time and most importantly for the right decision. Pakistan got both of them horribly wrong on the second of the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne
Riding on a brilliant double century by opener Azhar Ali, Pakistan declared their first innings at 443 for 9. The Australian openers David Warner and Usman Khawaja walked out and Mohammad Amir had the new ball for Pakistan.
Amir pitched one at the corridor of uncertainty beating Warner comprehensively. There was no appeal from men behind the stumps but Amir felt he had case there. He insisted captain Misbah-ul-Haq to for a review and amazingly the Pakistan captain signaled to the umpire to up stairs.
The replays made it clear there was day light between bat and ball as Warner survived.
