Alex Hales, after getting hit in this manner was not able to take his side over the line. Oval Invincibles defeated Trent Rockers by 9 runs. Trent Rockets lost their second match in the league but maintained their pole position in the league ahead of Oval Invincibles.
The match was being played in 'The Hundred' league which is an England-based cricket league introducing a completely new format in cricket. In this format, each side faces 100 balls while every bowler bowls 5 balls in a row. The concept of an 'over' is not present in The Hundred. A bowler can bowl up to 20 balls. In Hundred, there is no concept like a 'Super Over'; a tie is a tie.
