‘No Time For You’: Dale Steyn Lashes Out At Kiwi Commentator For Comment On His Hairstyle

Simon Doull said during commentary that Steyn was having “a little mid-life crisis with that hair”. The comment did not go down well with the South African fast-bowler. Read below to know what he said in reply to the Kiwi commentator.

Dale Steyn is currently representing Quetta Gladiators in his debut season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021. He played his first game on Friday against Peshawar Zalmi. His team Quetta Gladiators lost the match even after posting a good total in the first innings. Steyn also had expensive figures of 2-44 in his four overs. But more than Steyn’s performance, his hairstyle was the talking point during the game.

Cricketer-turned-commentator, Simon Doull of New Zealand made a cheeky remark on the hairstyle of the South African bowler. He said Steyn is having “a little mid-life crisis with that hair”. A video clip of the incident when Doull said these words has gone viral:

This comment did not go down well with the bowler. He was quick to respond to the comments made by the Kiwi. He took to Twitter to express how he felt after the comments made by Simon Doull. “If your job is to talk about the game, then do that. But if you use that airtime to abuse anyone for their weight, sexual choices, ethnic backgrounds, lifestyle etc or even hairstyles, then im afraid I have no time for you as a human. You and anyone else like that to be fair,” Steyn wrote on Twitter.

“That’s all I have to say. It was a great time last night, fantastic to play in front of crowds again, cricket is so much better that way. We lost but hopeful to pull it together in our remaining games. Thanx for the support Have a great weekend everyone,” he added.

The Quetta Gladiators eventually lost the match to Peshawar Zalmi and are lying at the bottom of the PSL points table 2021.

Scores in brief:

Quetta Gladiators 198-7, 20 overs (Sarfaraz 81, Azam 47, du Plessis 37; Saqib Mahmood 3-34, Wahab Riaz 2-54)

Peshawar Zalmi 202-7, 19.3 overs (Haider Ali 50, Imam ul Haq 41, Rutherford 36; Dale Steyn 2-44)
