Nasser Hussain’s Spot-On Explainer On Umpire’s Call Resurfaces After Ben Stokes’ Criticism- WATCH
Nasser Hussain's old video has resurfaced amid Ben Stokes' criticism of the 'umpire's call' in the Decision Review System (DRS).
The 'Umpire's call' in the Decision Review System (DRS) is once again under the scanner after a few calls went against England in the ongoing five-match Test series against India. England captain Ben Stokes has openly criticised it, demanding it be scrapped to avoid confusion. Amid all this, an old video in which the cricketer-turned-commentator Nasser Hussain can be seen explaining why the umpire's call needs to be there has gone viral on social media.
Hussain's had explained the need for DRS to be there in response to Virat Kohli's criticism of the same in March 2021. Hussain explains that in reality the ball has never gone on to hit the stumps, in case of DRS, but it is a prediction that it would have gone on to hit/clip the wickets, thereby the need for an 'umpire's call.'
"My personal opinion is if the ball is hitting the stumps, it is hitting the stumps. They should take away ‘umpire’s call’ if I’m being perfectly honest. I don’t want to get too much into it because it sounds like we are moaning and saying that is why we lost the Test match," Stokes said while talking to the media after England lost to India by 494 runs at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.
Take a look at Hussain's take on the 'Umpire's Call' In DRS:

Jasprit Bumrah Likely To Be Handed Rest In IND vs ENG 4th Test
If reports are to be believed, India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah will be handed a rest for the fourth Test match against England in Ranchi. Multiple media reports including the one carried out by Cricbuzz suggests that in order to manage his workload, he could be given a breather in Ranchi. However, he is likely to be back for the series finale in Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. India currently lead the five-match series 2-1 after going down 0-1 in Hyderabad.
