Indian star pacer Mohammed Shami underwent a successful surgery on his heel to repair his Achilles tendon. He took to his social media accounts on February 26 (Monday) to share images of himself and update fans about his condition. Shami mentioned that he will need time to fully recover before making a comeback to competitive cricket. The surgery was done in the United Kingdom.

Mohammed Shami last featured in the 2023 World Cup where he reportedly participated despite an ankle issue and has been sidelined from action since the tournament. Despite being benched for four games, the senior pacer emerged as the highest wicket-taker in the competition, dismissing 24 batsmen in just seven matches. 

Shami Looks Forward To Getting back On His Feet Again

Mohammed Shami shared in a post that he has undergone a successful heel operation on his Achilles tendon. While acknowledging that the recovery process will take some time, he expressed eagerness to get back on his feet.

Mohammed Shami's injury concerns have led to a series of missed opportunities in various cricket events. After sitting out of the home T20I series against Australia following the 2023 World Cup, he was ruled out of the entire South Africa tour and the subsequent Afghanistan series. Shami is currently not part of the ongoing Test series against England.
