MI vs KXIP: WATCH the epic staredown between Pandya and Viljoen
With just 8 more overs to go, Viljoen walked straight up to Pandya and stared him in the eye. Not in the mood to ignore or back down, Pandya responded to the intense eye contact before the South African passed a cheeky smile and cleverly backed off
Kieron Pollard single-handedly outclassed KL Rahul’s efforts as Mumbai Indians (MI) registered a 3-wicket win in the last-over thriller on Wednesday night. With this victory, MI have dethroned Sunrisers Hyderabad to acquire the third position on the points table with 8 points in their kitty.
Meanwhile, an interesting incident took place during the match when Hardik Pandya and Hardus Viljoen stared each other down during the MI vs KXIP game at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The staring incident took place after end of 12th over. With just 8 more overs to go, Viljoen walked straight up to Pandya and stared him in the eye. Not in the mood to ignore or back down, Pandya responded to the intense eye contact before the South African passed a cheeky smile and cleverly backed off.
After 10 overs, MI needed 133 in 60 balls, still fancying their chances with the big-hitting Pollard at the crease and another fine finisher Hardik Pandya to follow. Shami got rid of the other Hardik (19 off 13 balls) and Krunal Pandya in space of four balls. Earlier in the evening, Rahul smashed his maiden IPL hundred while Chris Gayle struck a 36-ball 63. Gayle, who smashed seven towering sixes and also hit three fours, laid the platform for the big total with his opening partner Rahul, who carried his bat through to remain unconquered on 100, laced with six sixes and as many fours. The duo's 116-run stand in 77 balls took MI by storm. It's getting hot in here 🔥🔥#MIvKXIP pic.twitter.com/MbMkGESJZR
