The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday (February 20) confirmed star keeper-batter KL Rahul's absence from upcoming IND vs ENG 4th Test in Ranchi. Whether he will be fit to participate in the fifth and final Test match in Dharamsala depends upon his recovery and fitness assessment.
The fourth Test match between India and England is scheduled to commence on 23rd February in Ranchi. In consideration of IND vs ENG five-match Test series' long duration and the need for workload management, BCCI opted to rest senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah for upcoming Ranchi Test. Mukesh Kumar, who was released from Indian squad ahead of 3rd Test, has joined the national team in Ranchi.

Jasprit Bumrah, at present, is the highest wicket-taker in the ongoing IND vs ENG Test series, having claimed 17 wickets at an average of 13.64. Across three Tests, he has bowled more than 80 overs. His standout performance in the ongoing series came with figures of six wickets for 45 runs.

Following their thumping win over England in the Rajkot Test, Rohit Sharma-led India took a 2-1 lead in the five-match IND vs ENG Test series. Despite England winning the first Test in Hyderabad, hosts India mounted a remarkable comeback, securing consecutive wins in Visakhapatnam and Rajkot. The upcoming IND vs ENG 3rd Test match is scheduled to take place in Ranchi from Friday (February 23) onwards.
