Keiron Pollard Appointed England Coach For T20I World Cup 2024

Keiron Pollard set to take charge of the England squad as a coach for the upcoming T20I World Cup.

Former West Indies all-rounder Keiron Pollard is all set to become the England Men's cricket team coach for the upcoming T20I World Cup 2024 to be played in the West Indies and United States of America. The power-hitting all rounder had already announced his international retirement but continues to play franchise cricket around the world.

The five-time Indian Premier League winner is a renowned player and a legend of the T20 format and has given fond memories to cricket fans around the world with his power hitting and unreal piece of electric and astonishing fielding. The job of England's T20I coach for the tournament will start a new chapter in his glorified career as this will be the first time the West Indian will be coaching an international side.

England will walk into the tournament as the reigning and defending champion as the English side won the previous tournament held in Australia in 2022, where they saw off the favourites Pakistan in the final thanks to heroics from the 'Man of the Finals', Sir Benjamin Stokes.

"Former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard has been appointed to the England Men's coaching team for next year's ICC Men's T20 World Cup in the West Indies and United States," ECB said in a statement. "Pollard will join the England Men's team specifically for the T20 World Cup as an assistant coach and to provide expertise on local conditions. Pollard was a part of West Indies' 2012 Men's T20 World Cup success and has vast experience in the format having played more than 600 matches," said England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in a statement.

Jos Buttler, who had a tremendous 2022 after scoring 900+ runs in Indian Premier League for Rajasthan Royals, reaching its final, registering an unbeaten opening stand in the semi-final of the T20I World Cup against India to thwart the Indian side by 10 wickets, and captaining the side to the ultimate glory and becoming champions, had a forgettable and torrid 2023 as the English side couldn't defend their crown in the ODI World Cup and crashed out in an astonishingly disappointing manner. He will be looking to make amends in 2024 by defending their T20I World Cup title.
