However, this year has seen a change in fortune for Dhoni and co, as they find themselves on the brink of an early exit from the IPL. Here's how CSK can still qualify for playoffs: If Chennai Super Kings treat their remaining five games as must-win clashes and manage to win each one of them they will churn out ten points which will most certainly be enough to seal a spot in the playoffs. 16 points all but guarantee a team qualification for the playoffs but for that Chennai Super Kings will have to avoid any further slip-ups from their next game and maintain a perfect win record to ensure they get all ten points. Even if CSK lose one game from their remaining five matches, they will still have a healthy chance of qualifying for the playoffs but their fate will depend on the performances of other teams. The net run rate can come into play for CSK if they manage to bag 14 points from their 14 games. Last season, Sunrisers Hyderabad had made it to the top 4 with only 12 points so CSK are certainly not out of the race yet but they have a lot of catching up to do to ensure they remain in the hunt till the end.
