'Stealing Doubles Since...': Stump Mic Records Virat Kohli's Comment On Day 1 OF IND vs WI 2nd Test
Virat Kohli played with excessive caution to make a substantial impression on his 500th international game. His undefeated 87 (161 balls, 8 fours) helped India regained control.
Virat Kohli is not someone to trifle with. The legendary cricketer doesn't take sly digs or comments from the opponent lightly. In addition to destroying the West Indies bowlers with his immaculate boundary-hitting style, Kohli also exasperated them by running rapid doubles between the wickets throughout the Test series. In response to what appeared to be an attempt by a Windies player to frighten him on Day 2 of IND vs WI 2nd Test, Kohli's alpha avatar took the front seat as the former India skipper said,"I have been stealing doubles since 2012". The comments were recorded on stump-mic.

It is still not clear as to what triggered the reaction from Kohli, who is known to be the finest and fastest runner in between the wickets.
In terms of the game, India regained ascendancy over West Indies at 288 for four at stumps on Thursday (21 July), the first day of the second and final IND vs WI Test, thanks to an unbroken century partnership between Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja.
At Trinidad's Queen's Park Oval, India was given the opportunity to bat and made a solid start before fading in the afternoon session.
Following tea, Kohli played with excessive caution to make a substantial impression on his 500th international game. With the help of Jadeja's 36 not out and his undefeated 87 (161 balls, 8 fours), India regained control after losing quick wickets in the second session.
In a protracted final session, their 106-run stand tormented the Caribbean squad, and skipper Kraigg Brathwaite had to turn to his own off-breaks to try to break through.
Since the first Test was played in Delhi in November 1948 to kick off the Caribbean team's historic first journey to the subcontinent, 100 Tests have been played between the two nations.
The West Indies still hold a 30-23 advantage against India in Test victories throughout the course of the 99 games, despite being winless against their opponents for more than 21 years.
