After Umesh's 6-for, Shaw shines with 39-ball fifty; IND - 80/1 at lunch
IND – 80/1 in 16 overs trail by 231 runs (Shaw 52*, Pujara 9*; Holder 1/20)
After Umesh Yadav’s historic six-wicket haul, youngster Prithvi Shaw slammed a fiery 39-ball fifty to provide a decent start to the team. By the end of the 1st session, India posted 80 runs at a loss of 1 wicket in 16 overs. Shaw was batting at 52 and was accompanied with Cheteshwar Pujara (9*).
In reply to West Indies’ 311, India had a blasting start. Prithvi Shaw, who slammed a century on his debut in Rajkot, showed no mercy on the Windies bowlers. On the other hand, his opening partner KL Rahul went off to the mark with stealing 3 runs off the first ball. However, his poor run continued in Hyderabad as well and he couldn’t survive long at the crease.
In the 9th over, Went Indies skipper Jason Holder broke India’s 61-run stand for the opening wicket by dismissing Rahul on 4.
Cheteshwar Pujara was the next man who took the centre stage while Shaw continued his hammering. He brought his fifty in just 39 balls which also included 8 boundaries and a six.
