India Vs England Test Series: Indian middle order right-handed batsman Shreyas Iyer has reportedly complained regarding stiffness in his back and a groin injury. The cricketer, who has been injury-prone his entire career, isn't having fondest of times post-ODI World Cup as his inconsistent performances and awful batting technique on certain deliveries (bouncers and short-pitched deliveries to be precise) have created a big question mark on the career of Iyer in the longest format of the game.

As reported By Indian Express, the Kolkata Knight Riders' captain faced immense difficulty in practising as he reportedly informed the Indian Cricket Team's medical staff about his severe back, that was constantly getting stiff due to longer period of practising (facing certain number of deliveries). The batsman also reported a pain in his groin while playing forward defence and few other strokes.

“Iyer has informed the Indian team management and the medical staff that his back gets stiff after playing more than 30 balls and he feels pain in his groin while playing forward defence. Post surgery, he is facing this issue for the first time so he has been advised to rest for a few weeks. He will head to NCA later,” as reported by Indian Express via undisclosed source.

Potential Shreyas Iyer Replacement In India Vs England Third Test Match

Even through Shreyas Iyer notched couple of tons in the ODI World Cup 2023, but both of them came at a fully suitable flat batting tracks of Wankhede Stadium and M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Mumbai and Bangalore respectively and when things got tricky on tough surfaces under difficult circumstances, the technical flaws of Shreyas Iyer were exposed badly and with another injury ruling him out, it's time for India to showcase their bench strength by introducing Sarfraz Khan into the squad, given, if Kohli doesn't return from his recent absency amidst personal reasons.

Sarfraz Khan has immense potential and has displayed his prowess in the longest format of the game by putting up unrealistic numbers in the recent Ranji Trophy seasons and Indian Cricket Team fans will be awaiting the much-eagered debut of the right-handed batsman.
