India's Probable Playing XI For England Tour: Who Replaces Rohit And Kohli?

Shubman Gill has been groomed for the No. 3 role after Cheteshwar Pujara's departure, and he is expected to continue there.

With the Indian Test squad for the England tour officially announced, all eyes are now on the potential playing XI.

The absence of senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli has created major gaps in the top order, leaving the team with both challenges and opportunities. While a new captain will lead the side, a mix of experienced and fresh talent will look to make an impact in English conditions.

Openers: Jaiswal and Rahul likely to lead the charge

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who impressed during the Australia tour, is almost certain to take one of the opening spots. With Rohit Sharma unavailable, KL Rahul - who performed well as an opener in Perth - could be his partner at the top.

No. 3 and 4: Gill and Karun Nair in Focus

Shubman Gill has been groomed for the No. 3 role after Cheteshwar Pujara's departure, and he is expected to continue there. With Kohli's No. 4 slot now open, Karun Nair - returning to the Test squad after eight years - might be the ideal candidate to bring stability and experience to the middle order.

Middle Order: Pant Set to Anchor

Rishabh Pant is likely to take the No. 5 position. Returning from injury, the wicketkeeper-batsman could play a vital role, especially in swinging English conditions where his aggressive approach can shift momentum.

All-Rounders: Jadeja, Reddy, and Shardul Offer Depth

Nitish Reddy, the young all-rounder, and the experienced Ravindra Jadeja could occupy the No. 6 and No. 7 spots. Shardul Thakur, known for his handy contributions with both bat and ball, could come in at No. 8 to further strengthen the lower order.

Bowling Attack: Bumrah to Lead the Pace Unit

Jasprit Bumrah will spearhead the bowling attack. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna are expected to join him in the pace department. If India opts for a three-seamer strategy, Kuldeep Yadav might have to sit out, unless conditions demand a spinner.

India's Probable Playing XI for England Tests 2025: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Karun Nair, Rishabh Pant (wk), Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna.
