IND Vs WI: Rohit Sharma-Shikhar Dhawan Need Just 22 Runs To Cross 5000-Mark As A Pair In ODIs

IND Vs WI, 3rd ODI: Only the pairs of Ganguly, Tendulkar (INDIA); Gilchrist, Hayden (AUS); Greenidge, Haynes (WI) are ahead of Dhawan-Rohit.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and left-handed batsman Shikhar Dhawan have been opening the batting together since 2013. Especially in ODIs, these two have proven to be India's one of the best opening pairs over the years.

The Delhi-Mumbai duo of Rohit and Dhawan requires only 22 runs to go past the 5,000 runs mark in ODI cricket. As of Friday morning, the pair of Sharma and Dhawan has 4978 runs in the opening partnership under their belt.

Only the pairs of Ganguly, Tendulkar (INDIA); Gilchrist, Hayden (AUS); Greenidge, Haynes (WI) are ahead of Dhawan-Rohit.

India will face West Indies in the third and final ODI of the IND Vs WI series on Friday. Rohit Sharma had hinted that Shikhar Dhawan would be back in the squad in the third ODI. “We will get Shikhar back for the next game, and he needs some game time,” Rohit had said after 2nd ODI.

India has already sealed the series by winning the first two matches, but will team India whitewash West Indies in the 3rd ODI?

Shikhar's arrival means no more Rishabh Pant at the top order. Cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra had a suggestion for the match, i.e. to drop Rishabh Pant to accommodate Shikhar Dhawan and to not make any other changes in the side.
