The first IND vs SL ODI match will take place at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo on August 2. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are set to don the blue jersey for India for the first time since their retirement from the T20I format after India’s T20 World Cup 2024 win.

India's Predicted Playing 11 For IND vs SL 1st ODI
Rohit Sharma (C): As captain for the India vs Sri Lanka ODI series, Sharma will lead the team and open the innings. He holds an exceptional record against Sri Lanka, including two double centuries.
Shubman Gill: Shubman gill is expected to open the innings with Sharma in the first ODI.
Virat Kohli: Returning to his number three position after opening in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Kohli will look to resume his anchoring responsibilities.
Shreyas Iyer: Iyer, who has excelled in ODIs and Tests despite losing his place in T20Is, will bat at number four.
KL Rahul: Rahul is expected to slot in at number five and will strengthen the middle order.
Rishabh Pant (wk): Fit to take the wicketkeeping role, Pant impressed with a 49-run knock in a T20I against Sri Lanka and will look to replicate that.
Axar Patel: A valuable spin all-rounder, Patel has shown his capability with both bat and ball in the T20I series and is expected to do the same in the ODIs.
Kuldeep Yadav: Expected to lead India’s spin attack, Yadav is anticipated to be there in the 11 as well.
Mohammed Siraj: With a strong record against Sri Lanka, Siraj remains a crucial part of the bowling lineup.
Arshdeep Singh: Left-arm pacer, Singh was effective in the T20I series, claiming 4 wickets in 2 games and is expected to continue that form in the ODIs as well.
Khaleel Ahmed: Another left-arm seamer, Ahmed could benefit from the conditions in Sri Lanka. He played one T20I but did not take any wickets.
