The venue for India vs Pakistan match in 2025 Champions Trophy is expected to be either Dubai or Colombo. Setback for India due to Hybrid Model in Champions Trophy?
The long-standing deadlock over hosting 2025 Champions Trophy has been resolved, with ICC confirming that the tournament will be played in a hybrid model. As part of the agreement, Pakistan has been awarded the rights to host an ICC tournament in 2028.
ICC announced that all India vs Pakistan matches in ICC events hosted by either country will be played at neutral venues until 2027. This decision comes at a considerable cost to India and BCCI.
For the first time, India will be required to play against Pakistan in an ICC event at a neutral venue, even if India is the host or co-host. This marks a major shift, given India's stature as a cricket superpower. India and Pakistan have only faced each other in ICC or Asian Cricket Council (ACC) events for over a decade. When Pakistan has hosted these events, India has chosen not to tour, opting instead for neutral venues.
