Spectators shouted demands for selfies, urged players to hit sixes and fours, and even resorted to body-shaming comments.
"It was complete chaos. No one expected so many fans to turn up."
"Players were very disturbed by the rude and insensitive comments that were passed," a BCCI source shared with News 18.
"One supporter continuously urged a player to say 'hi' to him in Gujarati. Another cricketer was body-shamed," the source added.
BCCI lodges formal request with Cricket Australia (CA)
Following the incident, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) lodged a formal request with Cricket Australia (CA) to prohibit fan access during practice sessions for the remainder of IND vs AUS Border-Gavaskar Test series. CA has accepted this request, ensuring that the players will be able to train without interference moving forward.
