IND vs AUS 1st Test: I don't think umpires look at the front line anymore, says Ricky Ponting

Ponting's statement comes after umpire Kumar Dharmasena wrongly gave Aussie opener Aaron Finch out on a delivery bowled by Indian speedster Ishant Sharma

Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting opened up on how he felt about the poor decisions made by the umpires on the fourth day of the first Test between India and Australia at Adelaide.

The world cup wining skipper feels that the umpires don't look at the front line anymore. Ponting's statement comes after umpire Kumar Dharmasena wrongly gave Aussie opener Aaron Finch out on a delivery bowled by Indian speedster Ishant Sharma.

But later Finch survived as the review showed that Sharma had overstepped.

"I've said this for a lot of years; I honestly don't think the umpires look at the front line anymore," Ponting told cricket.com.au.

"Some of the ones we've seen today ... he was 4-6 inches over the line.

"I don't think the umpires are looking and I certainly don't think they were looking at those ones because they were blatantly obvious ones.

"And as we know now, they'll only ever look at them if a wicket falls, which as far as I'm concerned is not right,"

However, Finch scored just 11 runs for his team before being dismissed star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

At stumps on Day four, Travis Head remained unbeaten on 11 while Shaun Marsh was batting on 31. Australia need 219 more runs to win while India require 6 more wickets to lead the series.
