Harmanpreet Kaur Slams 'Pathetic Umpiring' In Series Decider Against Bangladesh

Smriti Mandhana, who scored 85-ball 59 spoke about Harmanpreet's on-field behaviour and said it happened in the heat of the moment.

India’s skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was disappointed after the series decider against Bangladesh, blaming the umpires for what she believed were numerous poor decisions. Harmanpreet said that India were in cruise control while chasing the total of 226, but poor umpiring decisions left them disappointed as the game eventually ended in a tie.

The Indian captain's annoyance was evident when the umpire gave her out while she was looking to play the sweep shot. She was annoyed and smashed the stumps with her bat before having a war of words with the umpire Tanvir Ahmed.

"A lot of learning from this game. Even apart from the cricket, the type of umpiring that was happening there, we were very surprised," Harmanpreet said.

"The next time whenever we are coming to Bangladesh, we'll have to make sure we have to deal with this kind of umpiring and accordingly we'll have to prepare ourselves.

"They batted really well, batted according to the situation. They were taking those singles which were very crucial. In between we leaked a few runs but when we were batting, we controlled the game very well but as I mentioned earlier some pathetic umpiring was done and we are really disappointed about some decisions given by the umpires."

India’s batter Yastika Bhatia's wicket was the first victim of poor umpiring on Saturday. She was given out lbw but then she kept standing in the middle and looked at the umpire before walking off the field. Meghna Singh was the last Indian batter who was given out caught behind with the scores tied. While walking back to the pavilion, she paused a bit and stared at the umpires.

Smriti Mandhana, who scored 85-ball 59 spoke about Harmanpreet's on-field behaviour and said it happened in the heat of the moment.

"When you play for India you want to win the match, and it happens in the heat of the moment. I think she (Harmanpreet) wasn't really happy with the decision given and she felt she isn't out. That is why that [reaction] came about. It is just the heat of the moment and nothing much," Mandhana told reporters.
