When he got smashed by 5 sixes in 5 balls, I felt bad for him. guess I still need to learn to stop being sympathetic towards non-Muslim atheletes and celebrities. Until I know what's in their hearts. #SadaHuaSamaaj @IrfanPathan pic.twitter.com/WXejMhz2Mn
Yash Dayal garnered attention after conceding five back-to-back sixes in an over against Kolkata Knight Riders in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 fixture. Kolkata required 29 runs off the final over for a win against GT when Rinku Singh, out of nowhere, smashed Dayal for five consecutive sixes in the final five balls of the final over, pulling off one of the biggest heists in the history of T20 Internationals.
Few days after that game, Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya revealed how Dayal fell ill and lost a lot of weight after that event.
"I can't confirm that (on his chances of Yash Dayal playing again this season). He fell ill and lost 7-8 kilos after that match. There was a spread of viral infection during that period and also due to the pressure he had faced, his condition is presently not good enough to take the field. Someone's loss is someone's gain at the end of the day. It is going to take a long time before we see him on the field," Pandya told Star Sports.
