Gautam Gambhir Press Conference: Gautam Gambhir's press conference has concluded and the Indian Cricket Team head coach reflected on many topics in his very own 'Gautam Gambhir' style. Gautam Gambhir cleared the air off the rumours that Virat Kohli was going to step-in as the skipper, by announcing that Jasprit Bumrah (Test vie-captain) will be Rohit Sharma's deputy.

Also, with Rohit's absence, came the opening slot debate, with few reports earier stating that Shubman Gill might get a promotion, keeping in mind that the right-handed batsman opened for Indian back in the 2020-21 BGT series. 

However, Gautamn Gambhir has named KL Rahul and Abhimanyu Easwaran as Rohit Sharma's back-up options, thereby, futher clarifiying that the management is eyeing Shubman Gill at number 3 in the Tour Donw Under.

India are going into the series completely out-of-form, espcially Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who have recieved a huge amount of backlash for their lack of form, and some fans event went on to say that the duo now lacks 'passion and huger to play for the nation'.

Amidst all the criticism, the Indian head coach jumped in the defence of the legendary duo, stating that their experience and inputs will be vita in Australia.

Gautam Gambhir has faed questions doubting the selection of SRH all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who made a name for himself in the Indian Premier League, before going on to play an outstanding T20I series against Bangladesh at home.

The talented all-rounder has been tipped as the perfect replacement of Hardik Pandya, and Gambhir had the following to say on his inclusion in the Test squad:

"Nitish Kumar Reddy has potential and is one for the future, for sure. We have picked out best players, we have picked the best squad. It is about moving forward. When needed, Nitish will do the job for us," said Gambhir.
