Gambhir Reveals Why He Never Enjoyed 'Good Relations' With Afridi During Cricketing Days
The rivalry between the duo dates back right to their infamous heated exchange with during an Asia Cup game between India and Pakistan
Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi and Cricketer-turned-MP Gautam Gambhir have often been involved in war of words on Twitter. The rivalry between the duo dates back to their infamous heated exchange during an Asia Cup game between India and Pakistan.
The verbal exchange between the two started after Afridi made some outrageous remarks on Gambhir in his autobiography 'Game Changer'. Afridi had termed Gambhir as someone with "no great records and just a lot of attitude".
In an interview to Indian Express, the World Cup winner said: “Some fights do get personal and there is nothing wrong with that. It has been like that for a very long time. Sometimes it is nice to get personal with someone.”
The former left-handed batsman also revealed that he never enjoyed decent relations with Afridi, during his cricketing days. “I have had decent relationships with Pakistani players, off the field, but not with Shahid Afridi. So that is the reason we got personal,” he said.
“Now obviously he doesn’t play but you never know, he might just make a comeback. He will never retire… There is a bit of history to that (the relationship with Afridi), I am fine with that.”, Gambhir concluded.
