England Vs West Indies 2nd Test: Joe Root Overtakes Windies Legend As 8th Highest Run Getter In Test Internationals

England Vs West Indies 2nd Test: It was a day full of history for Joe Root, as he surpasses a Windies legend on the list of highest run getters in Test Internationals. Here are the details.

England Vs West Indies 2nd Test: Joe Root's historic 32nd ton saw him create history, as he not only went level with the likes of Steve Smith, Kane Williamson, and Steve Waugh for 32 Test International centuries, but in the process, has now overtaken West Indies legend Shivnarine Chanderpaul for the number of runs scored in the format.

With 11,940 runs, Joe Root is now eight in the list for number of runs scored in the history of Test cricket, and could have been on the 7th place, had he scored 14 more runs in his knock of 122, as the legendary Brian Lara of West Indies sits at the seventh spot with 11,953 runs.

No batsman in the modern era is able to reach near the numbers and legend of Joe Root, and this is a statement that is justified by stats itself, as Joe Root is the only active batsman in the top 10 run getters in the history of Test cricket, and the nearest challenger to Joe Root is Australia's Steve Smith, who is seven places behind the Englishman with 9,685 runs.

Joe Root can potentially cross Brian Lara and the 12k run mark in Tests in the upcoming home Test series against Sri Lanka, as the Asian nation will be touring England for the 3-match Test series.
