UK PM Rishi Sunak Reacts To Jonny Bairstow's Controversial Dismissal In Lord's Test

Ashes holder Australia went on to win the 2nd Test at Lord's to take 2-0 lead with only three Tests remaining.

England lost the 2nd Test against Australia at Lord's under controversial circumstances - angering spectators at Lord's. England's star wicket-keeper batter Jonny Bairstow was stumped off seamer Cameron Green's bowling by Australian glovesman Alex Carey, who threw the ball at the stumps when Bairtsow walked out of his crease after ducking a slower bouncer, assuming that the ball was dead at the end of over. The stumping by Carey was legal as per the ICC laws and Bairstow was adjudged out by the third umpire. Ashes holder Australia went on to win the 2nd Test to take 2-0 lead with only three Tests remaining. Veteran England pacer Stuart Broad was heard saying "that's the worst thing I've seen in cricket", while skipper Ben Stokes said he wouldn't want to win in that manner.

United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has also shared his opinions on Jonny Bairstow's dismissal and said "he wouldn't win a game in the manner Australia did."

As per a report in The Mirror, British PM's official spokesperson said: "The Prime Minister agrees with Ben Stokes, who said he simply wouldn't want to win a game in the manner Australia did.

"That game did provide an opportunity to see Ben Stokes at his best and it was an incredible Test match and he has confidence England will bounce back at Headingley."

Stokes had told reporters after the Test: "Jonny was in his crease, then out of his crease to come down and have the chat. I am not disputing the fact it is out because it is out. Would I want to win a game in that manner? The answer for me is no."

The third Test of the five-match England vs Australia Ashes 2023 Test series will begin from July 6 onwards at Headingley.
