ENG vs AUS, Ashes 2019: Rain Washes Out Opening Day Of Lord's Test

While the match will start on Thursday at its scheduled time, an extra half-hour will be added towards the end of the day's play on each of the remaining four days to make up for the lost time.

The opening day of the second Ashes Test between England and Australia at the Lord's was washed out on Wednesday after persistent rain forced the umpires to not even conduct the toss. While the match will start on Thursday at its scheduled time, an extra half-hour will be added towards the end of the day's play on each of the remaining four days to make up for the lost time. Seam bowler Jofra Archer was presented with his England cap, confirming that he will make his Test debut. At Archer's request, the presentation was made by Chris Jordan, his Sussex team-mate. Like Archer, Jordan was born in Barbados and helped introduce the debutant to the English game. Australia currently lead the five-match series 1-0 after winning the first Test in Birmingham by 251 runs. It has been 18 long years since Australia won an Ashes series in England.
