No Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma As BCCI Announces Squads For Duleep Trophy 2024

The BCCI has announced the squads for the 2024 season of Duleep Trophy which is set to begin on September 5. Contrary to speculation, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharm are not part of any squad.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squads for the first round of the upcoming Duleep Trophy matches on August 14 (Wednesday). The squads for four tems feature prominent players such as Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer. However, India’s Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma and veteran batter Virat Kohli were not included in any of the squads, contrary to what had been speculated over the last few days

Set to get underway from September 5, the Duleep Trophy has been typically played in a zonal format across six regions of India and has traditionally provided a platform for red-ball prospects to showcase their talent. This time, however, the BCCI has opted to abandon the six-team zonal format and zonal selections. Instead, the tournament will feature four teams: India A, India B, India C and India D.

Team A Squad: Shubman Gill (C), Mayank Agarwal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, KL Rahul, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Tanush Kotian, Kuldeep Yadav, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan, Vidwath Kaverappa, Kumar Kushagra, Shaswat Rawat.

Team B Squad: Abhimanyu Easwaran (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant, Musheer Khan, Nitish Kumar Reddy*, Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohd Siraj, Yash Dayal, Mukesh Kumar, Rahul Chahar, R Sai Kishore, Mohit Awasthi, N Jagadeesan (WK).
