Pujara, Jadeja, KL Rahul, Smriti And Deepti Face NADA Notice For Whereabouts Clause
These cricketers have five days to reply for failing to update their whereabouts in this quarter in the NADA domain portal and failure to reply will be seen as the first strike against the compliance.
Even though the lockdown has forced the cricketers into their homes, Team India cricketers have fallen foul with the National Anti Doping Agency.
According to sources, the NADA has given notice to five Team India cricketers --- Pujara, KL Rahul Jadeja, Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma, who are all part of Testing pool given by the BCCI, for failing to report about their whereabouts.
These cricketers have five days to reply for failing to update their whereabouts in this quarter in the NADA domain portal and failure to reply will be seen as the first strike against the compliance. Three strikes warrant a doping violation and necessary ban.
Although there are no testing happening as of now during the COVID Crisis, the NADA has been acting tough with the athletes and have served notices for mandatory compliance regarding their whereabouts. This is the first time that NADA has served notice to any cricketers.
Whereabout clause has been one of the basic worries for the BCCI and Team India players to come under WADA compliance but we're forced to come under the radar following pressure from the ICC and the Indian sports ministry.
